In recent years the Bumhudzo Home for the Elderly has struggled to remain operational. When Mr Tendai Mupfurutsa, CEO of Ekhaya, heard about Bumhudzo’s financial challenges, he devised a plan to temporarily adopt the centre and cover the majority of its expenses. The 2008 session of the Zimbabwe School of Youth Leadership got off to a great start with 23 students meeting at Pearson Corps, Harare West, for two weeks of orientation. The students, representing 15 divisions, were accompanied by several Divisional Youth Officers who participated in the programme and assisted with the training.
Z.S.Y.L. students learned about Salvation Army history and structures, spiritual disciplines, evangelism, spiritual warfare, integrated mission, kids ministry, youth ministry, mentoring and accountability, creative communication and much more. Continue reading ‘The ZSYL GANG’
The Territorial Officers’ Councils were marked by a high turnout as active and retired officers gathered together at Mazowe High School for worship, teaching sessions, shared learning and corporate prayer. In his keynote address, Commissioner S. Mutewera, former Territorial Commander, said that lack of funding had prevented the territory from holding officers’ councils since 2002, but that thanks to a donor, the event could now be held.
